At 6:45 PM, we will have a brief business meeting and then take a short break in preparation for the presentation by Alan Koch, owner of Gold Country Orchids. He will speak on “How to Manage Your Orchid Collection.”

Alan specializes in miniature and compact Cattleyas. He started growing orchids in 1968 when he was given a Cymbidium from his aunt. While in college, his interest grew in other orchids and living in Southern California realizing that the outdoor environment was perfect there for many species.
He moved five times as his orchid passion led to needing more growing space. His last move was to be on 10 acres of land in Lincoln, California for his 300,000 orchids. He is recognized as an expert in the Brazilian Cattleya and a trend setter in miniature Cattleya breeding. Alan has published in Orchid Digest and also the American Orchid Society magazines and also speaking at the World Orchid Conference and Internationally.

Alan’s presentation will share information on how to be a better orchid grower, manage water, fertilizer, disease and pests. He’ll also discuss how to purchase orchids to insure getting the best value and plants that will flower year round.
