Greenhouse Tour

Come and see a traditional glasshouse which serves as a greenhouse during the winter, and party venue during the summer.
A glasshouse requires some maintenance, glass repair, and lots of cleaning to keep the glass clear. It is a beautiful structure
that adds elegance to the backyard and gives the opportunity to host families and friends. When the winter is approaching,
some of the orchids are sheltered inside until the spring arrives. The harsh winter can be damaging to some of the orchids,
and to prevent such conditions there are 2 split HVAC units installed with heating and cooling features. Internet added for
monitoring temperature, humidity, security cameras and irrigation system. During the spring, all orchids are taken out of the
greenhouse to clean up the inside glass and whatever maintenance is required. Most of the orchids are kept outdoor in benches, under the trees and in second greenhouse until November before the cold weather arrives.
Two lectures will be proposed in the afternoon:
- 1 p.m: Stanhopea potting: How to repot Stanhopea and related orchids, and their growing requirements.
- 2 p.m: Growing Cymbidium from back bulbs. How to identify old bulbs suitable for growing. Growing conditions and different types of Cymbidium.
