2025 – Speaker Program
During each month’s General Meeting, the Jacksonville Orchid Society presents a program often consisting of speakers and hand-on activities of interest to our membership and orchid growers across the Northeast Florida area. Our speakers are knowledgeable and discuss the many forms of orchids and orchid culture. Very often the speakers will also bring along a selection of orchid appropriate for growth in the Northeast Florida area.

| February | Noted JOS member Dr. Courtney Hackney will speak on “My experience making cattleya hybrids.” |
| March | The meeting was dedicated to preparation for the March 2025 JOS Orchid Show. |
| April | Bill Nunez, aka “The Rhizome Cowboy” will discuss “Hybridizing Orchids in Florida.” |
| May | JOS Member Harry McElroy will discuss growing Cymbidium orchids in Northeast Florida. |
| June | No Speaker. The JOS conducted its annual picnic at the home of member Jim Shine |
| July | JOS friend Thanh Ngyuen will discuss the perennial question of “To Mount or Not To Mount. |
| August | Keith and Dina Emig will discuss “Vandaceous but not Vanda.” If you like Vandas and want to expand your knowledge of related orchids you’ll want to be sure to attend their presentation. |
| September | Luis Ortiz will discuss “Pleurothallids” and brings his experience successfully growing these and other miniatures in South Florida to share with the membership. |
| October | James Arnold will discuss Phragmipedium kovachii. If you like “Phragmipedium” and want to expand your knowledge of related orchids you’ll want to be sure to attend his presentation. |
| November | Panel Discussion – Come and Stump Our Experts. |
| December | No Speaker – Annual Christmas Party |
